Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance can we book you?!
As soon as you’re ready, let’s proceed with your booking before dates slip away! My Colorado elopements are typically booked between 2 and 12 months in advance. My fall spots are the fastest to go, booking up to 18 months in advance.
Weddings are usually are booked 12 – 24 months in advance. I tend to book up fairly quickly, so I highly recommend reserving your date as soon as you’re sure of it! Most couples book right away after they have their date and as soon as their venue is secured.
Can we meet up before we book you?
Absolutely. If you’re local to the Colorado area, let’s grab a cup of coffee! If you’re out of state or international, I’m happy to chat on the phone or do a FaceTime call and walk you through my process and my portfolio to chat ideas and poses and wedding day schedule.
Once your date is set, we can meet as many times as you’d like before the big day to ensure all details are set. In all honesty, you will probably have met my husband, seen my kids and my dog, and have been to my house before your big day!
Can we see a full wedding gallery?
Absolutely, and I think this is a smart thing ask for! Whenever you’re ready, I’ll send over a few full wedding galleries for you to check out to get an idea of what a full day looks like with several different lighting situations and locations.
How are our photos delivered?
I use an online gallery which will host all of your digital files in full resolution that you’ll be able to send to friends and family for sharing and downloads. Included in all of my collections are also custom USB drives which will house all of your digital files as well, so you can have them handy in a physical location.
How long until we get to see our photos?
The most time intensive part of a wedding shoot is not actually capturing everything on the day of the wedding – it’s the hours of editing that comes afterwards! For every hour I shoot, I plan on 3 – 4 hours of editing in Lightroom and Photoshop to get your images looking absolutely stunning and ready to hang on the walls and place in albums.
I typically turn weddings around in 5 – 6 weeks at the most, and usually less than that (not to brag, but my fastest ever was 10 days for 1200 images).
How many photos do you deliver?
This can vary. I typically say that for every hour I shoot, I turn around, minimum, 75 – 100 finished and edited images. Every wedding is different, and I do not put a ceiling number on what I shoot.
My very favorite images I will deliver in both color and a black and white copy, because some images just deserve to be presented in both mediums.
A typical wedding of 6 hours or more is anywhere from 700 -1000+ photos delivered. Engagement sessions range anywhere from 75 – 100+.
How do you back up your photos?
Good question! While shooting, I back my images up to two different memory cards inside of each camera. From there, all images go onto my computer hard drive, PLUS 6 external hard drives. Losing images will not happen with me.
Do you deliver RAW / unedited images?
I do not deliver RAW or unedited images. Part of my craft is in the editing process, for my signature “light and airy and colorful” look, which is achieved both through Lightroom and Photoshop techniques.
My clients hire me for my specific editing style and trust my technique and judgement. Just like a restaurant wouldn’t give you a half-cooked meal, I don’t deliver unfinished photos.
Are your collections customizable?
Absolutely. Let’s tailor build you the perfect collection that fits your needs completely. We’ll tweak it as much as we need to fit your wish list.
Sweet. We are ready to book, now what!?
Yay! Head over to my BOOKING FORM and fill it out as much as you can. I will then send over my collections and some galleries for you to browse! We’ll chat about the different options, customize, and then I’ll send a contract over for you to look over and sign when you’re ready. I keep it simple and ask for $1000 to book your date, and we’ll then set up a payment schedule that works for you.
What to expect after booking:
Where should we go for our elopement or engagement session?
Included in my collections is location planning. We’ll decide together on the most epic location to tell your story most beautifully. And when you book your date, we’ll start chatting all about my secret spots and what feels right to you!
I want certain photos taken during wedding day. How can we plan for that?
About a month before your wedding, we will touch base on all the details.
First, I want to go over what’s called a “shot list”. These are all the images you hope to have me capture on wedding day! This can be anything from “big family portrait with all my cousins included” to “a photograph of me and my high school chemistry teacher with my dog.” I cannot guarantee I will capture them all, but most of the time I do!
Specifically, I want to have a good working list of all of the family portraits we will capture immediately following the ceremony, during cocktail hour.
I also want to talk about your timeline and some couples shots, which I normally take throughout the reception. (Immediately following dinner is usually a good time for sunset photos). We’ll go over all of this about a month before the big day.
Do you work with a second shooter?
I highly recommend booking a collection with a second photographer. This way, we’ll get more beautiful images for you to have forever. Smaller weddings (60 people or less) I can handle on my own, but usually recommend a second photographer for more than that.
When do you show up on wedding day?
I will arrive with my second shooter about 45 minutes to an hour before we are set to start. I will start shooting location photos, touch base with your wedding planner, and get a layout of the land.
Will we get some sneak peeks?
Yes! I know how excited you are to see these images, so I will have 10 – 20 sneak peeks ready for you within 3 days after the wedding.
Can we change our collection before or after our wedding date?
Yes! Collections are never set in stone. You are welcome to change anything at any point – adding more hours, adding some canvases and prints or an album, and even adding these things after the wedding is shot and delivered.
